About Clayying
Clayy’ing was born from a family memory — one shaped by clay, fire, and time.
Our designer, Ying, originally studied fashion design at university. Long before that, ceramics were already part of her life. Her mother runs a porcelain shop in our hometown — the very first local supplier of everyday ceramics, from bowls and plates to teaware. For generations, our family has lived alongside clay.
Our grandparents’ village once relied entirely on ceramic-making. Our grandfather was a technical craftsman in a colored porcelain factory, working by hand long before machines replaced people. As modern online commerce reshaped consumption, the traditional, offline ceramic trade that sustained our family gradually faded.
Like many creatives, Ying and I found ourselves in careers that felt distant from the way we naturally think and create. We wanted something slower, more tactile — something that belonged to us.
Clayy’ing is our answer.
We are not trying to reproduce tradition exactly as it was, nor to abandon it entirely. Instead, we chose to reinterpret it — turning childhood memories, cake shop windows, and playful forms into ceramic art pieces that feel joyful, gentle, and slightly surreal.
Earlier this year, through handcraft-focused creators on local social platforms, our work unexpectedly resonated with a growing audience. Their encouragement gave us the courage to take a bigger step: launching Clayy’ing as our first overseas brand.
For us, Clayy’ing is not only about ceramics.
It is about reclaiming a sense of play.
About honoring what came before — while allowing ourselves to imagine something new.
Each piece is handmade, imperfect by design, and shaped with care.
Welcome to Clayy’ing.
